More fun at Dickens

Minus the guy in the corner ( I need to get a program to crop him out) this picture looks like we are in Victorian England.

 The Tremont House a beautiful building.

 This store had these awesome masks. The black is the ties that hold it one. I love how it gave me a mustache.

 If you want to feel like a Celebrity go to Dickens dressed up and you will have tons of random strangers ask to take your picture or take a picture with you. I have never had my picture taken with so many strangers before. It was fun. If your camera shy don't wear a costume.

 I also learned that if you pose for your own pictures you get a ton of people swarm you to take your picture. Like here we were doing our own thing and we had random people taking our picture. I love that he is in costume too. Other times this behavior would be rather creepy but at Dickens it's part of the fun.

 As we are leaving Dickens through the grand gate. Is it just me or do these shots create a fabulous movie ending to anyone else? I can hear the music and feel the feeling the audience would have at the end of this movie.

Dickens on the Strand

This weekend was Dickens on the Strand where people dress up in Victorian Costumes. There are shows and vendors and other fun stuff. Kind of like a Renaissance Fair but Victorian England. I decided that I wanted to make a dress for it this year. With the help of my friend Cheryl Thrift, I got the stuff and have been working on it in my spare time since October. (Thus the lack of posts recently.) I convinced some of my friends to go with me and Cheryl loaned them some dresses to wear. The Festival was an hour away so we decided to get dressed once we got there and not get our dresses all wrinkled and try to sit in a car with them. So this is some of our group before with left in our warm underclothing. (It was in the 30s that day, which is way too cold for Texas. Those of you crazy enough to live where it is colder you don't need to mock us because we aren't used to the cold weather.)

 Once we got there we put on our dresses in the parking lot. It was cold and lacing up the dresses with frozen fingers wasn't easy. Here is our assembly line getting everyone dressed.

 Here we are dressed and ready to roll. I'm in the green, Deanna (black), Amanda (pink), Josh (pink), and Jessica (purple).

 Here is our patroness, Cheryl Thrift, none of us would have looked this good without her.

Strolling down the street, trying to stay warm. Did I mention that it was freezing? Well, it was.

It was "loads good" as Amanda would say. There are more pictures to come. So stay tuned but I wanted to get these up to get you excited for more. 

Alligator Park

You may be wondering where I have been all this time. I have had some fun adventures which I hope to catch up on soon. Life has just been so busy but good busy! One thing that has kept me busy is I was called to be the Relief Society President for our branch at the beginning of the month. But here is one adventure for you. Enjoy!

Back in June, some friends and I went to Alligator Park. It's official name is Brazos Bend State Park. As you probably guessed there are gators that live in the park. Here is the group at the park.

 Here is one with the sun in their faces instead of behind them.

 It was a pretty park. I loved the lily pads.

 This tree also was awesome!

 Fortunately, while we were there we did see a gator. I would have been very disappointed to go there and not see a gator! Here, he is swimming in the water. Can you see him? (I am just assuming that it is a him: I wasn't going to get close enough to check.) It's the log looking thing in the middle.

 Here he is again a little closer. This was a smaller gator probably 4 feet.

 It was SO hot that day. 102 plus humidity. We were trying to stay a  little cooler by taking a moment in the shade. It didn't help much but 101 with humidity made a tiny difference.

 We saw some turtles sun bathing on a log. If you look close you can see there legs stretched out. Cute.

 Deanna and Jessica decided to pose with the turtles and sunbath too. 

 So you may be wondering where I am this whole time. Well, here you go. Proof that I didn't just still someone else's photos and claim to be there.

 This is the view from the top of the tower. See pretty in an alligator, swampy way.

  We finally got someone to take a picture of all of us together. I like this picture a lot!

 There was some cool places to take pictures at the park. If it wasn't so hot I might have explored them more.

 And there's just something about a big tree that makes you want to climb it and take pictures.

It was a fun and successful trip to see gators.
